Best Performances of Former Augusta University Players in Pro Basketball

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top former Jaguars players who continue their career in pro basketball.

  #1. Deane Williams (6'8''-F-96, graduated '19, plays pro in Iceland) led Keflavik to a victory over the eighth-ranked Tindastoll (6-10) 87-83 in the Icelandic Dominos League last Saturday. He was MVP of the game. Williams scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 34 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Keflavik (13-7) is placed fourth in the Dominos League. Williams has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 18.4ppg, 10.5rpg, 2.2apg and 2.0bpg in 25 games he played so far.

   #2. Experienced Greg Hire (6'7''-F-87, graduated '10, plays in Australia) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Cougars (2-4) crushing them 106-85 in the Australian State League (second division) on Saturday night. Hire recorded 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Rockingham Flames (4-2) are placed sixth in NBL1 West group. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Hire has relatively good stats this year 12.7ppg, 8.7rpg and 2.7apg.

   #3. Ben Purser (6'7''-F-90, graduated '11, currently in Australia) was the main contributor in a Perry Lakes Hawks' victory against the 12th-ranked Buccaneers (1-3) crushing them 90-63 in the Australian State League (second division) in Saturday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Purser recorded 17 points and added 5 assists in 26 minutes. Perry Lakes Hawks (15-3) are placed in NBL1 West group. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Purser's eighth year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season 15.0ppg, 5.3rpg, 5.5apg and 1.5spg in six games.

   #4. Tamyrik Fields (6'6''-F-96, graduated '18, plays pro in Portugal) could not help Sangalhos (5-6) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Fields' very good performance the fifth-placed Sangalhos (5-6) was defeated73-69at home by the higher-ranked Sampaense (#4) in the North group. He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Fields' first season with the team. This year Fields has very high stats. He averages 20.0ppg, 8.5rpg, 1.3apg and 1.9spg.

   #5. Kyle Armour (6'0''-G-89, graduated '12, plays in Australia) was the major contributor in a Lakeside Lightning's victory against the ninth-ranked Senators (2-3) crushing them 90-61 in the Australian State League (second division) on Saturday night. He recorded 16 points, 5 assists and 3 steals in 26 minutes. Lakeside Lightning (10-8) is placed in NBL1 West group. But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen. Armour has relatively good stats this year 14.6ppg, 2.2rpg, 5.8apg and 2.2spg in five games.

   #6. Benjamin Ursich (6'5''-G/F-96, graduated '17, currently in Australia), who plays in the Australian State League (second division) was not able to help Kilsyth Cobras (3-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance the 11th-placed Kilsyth Cobras were crushed94-66on the road by the higher-ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (#7) in the NBL1 South group. Ursich was the top scorer with 16 points. Ursich has relatively good stats this season 13.9ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.3apg.

   #7. Keshun Sherrill (5'9''-PG-94, graduated '17, plays pro in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for Kagitspor (17-13) in their last game. Despite his good performance Kagitspor lost89-82on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#4) Yalova. Sherrill scored 13 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 40 minutes. Sherrill has very impressive stats this year 21.7ppg, 3.9rpg, 4.1apg and 1.3spg in 31 games.
