Second Half Surge Not Enough in 71-69 Loss to Pacers

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University Men's basketball team dropped a close contest to rival USC Aiken 71-69. The loss moves the Jaguars to 6-6 overall, 4-6 in PBC play while the Pacers move to 8-5, 7-4 in PBC Play.

 

Augusta (6-6, 4-6 PBC)

Again, the Augusta offense was balanced, with 4 Jaguars scoring in the double-digits. Tyshaun Crawford and Darren Lucas-White shared the top scoring spot for the Jags with 16 points each. Crawford rounded out his double-double with 11 rebounds. Tyree Myers added 15 points and 5 assists. Florida native Lee Flenor carded 10 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.

 

 

 

The Jaguars outrebounded the Pacers, the visiting team was more proficient from beyond the arc. UNC Pembroke took a 13 point advantage with 4:04 remaining in the first half and went to the locker room with a 40-29 lead. AU rallied ad took the lead with 2:58 remaining in the game. While they continued to battle, the home team was unable to close the game and took a 71-69 defeat

USC Aiken was led by Anyeuri Castillo's 19 points.

 

Augusta travels to Lander this Saturday, Feb 20th for a 3:30pm PBC Match-up. All games can be viewed on the PBC Sports Network.
