AU Men's Basketball Tops Lander for a Second Time This Season

AUGUSTA, GA   – The Augusta Jaguars topped the Lander University Bobcats for a second time this season with a final score of 78-73. Augusta is now 5-2 on the season, 3-2 in PBC play while Lander moves to 4-5, 2-3 in PBC play.

 

STANDOUTS

Continuing to play with a limited roster, Augusta was paced by standout Lee Flenor's 21 points.

Junior Tyshaun Crawford had a productive night, carding 17 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Flenor and Crawford combined for 38 points and 23 rebounds in the contest. Senior Shawn Moss was integral in the win, scoring 11 points from the bench for the home team while going 3-for-3 from the three point line. Darren Lucas-White added 10 points and 3 assists. 

Lander was led by the hot shooting hand of Sydney Robinson, who put up an impressive 31-point performance, going 7-for-10 from beyond the arc.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

A made dunk by Lee Flenor helped spur an early offensive run that gave Augusta a 20-7 lead with a little more than 7 minutes left in the first half. An 18-2 run by the visiting team put the Bearcats up 25-22 with 2 minutes left in the half. The Jaguars started the second half with a 9-3 run. Made free throws by Tyshaun Crawford and intuitive backcourt play by guard Tyree Myers down the stretch helped close the tight contest with a score of 78-73.

 

The Jaguars remain home this Saturday at 2pm when they take on Clayton State in a PBC Conference match-up. Spectators are not permitted. All games can be viewed on the PBC Sports Network.
