INDIANAPOLIS, In –Augusta University Men's Basketball continues to push toward the top 10 nationally in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll. After four weeks of regular season, the Jaguars are ranked 11th in the poll.
Despite game cancellations due to Covid-19, the committee continues to recognize the talent of an Augusta team loaded with talent.
The #11 Jaguars (2-0) defeated Emmanuel on December 12nd for the second win of the season. They are slated to host Georgia College in their conference opener on Saturday January 9th.
Augusta is the only Peach Belt Conference school to be voted in the top 25 NABC Preseason Poll. Several teams in the rankings have not yet made their season debuts.
Juniors Miguel Arnold, Darren Lucas-White, and Tyshaun Crawford have led the team in scoring in the past two games. In the two contests, Arnold scored 41 points, Lucas-White scored 40, and Crawford added 39. All three are averaging over 19 points for the season.
Augusta has been selected to the NCAA tournament 13 times ('78, '01, '02, '07, '08, '09, '10, '11, '14, '15, '17, '19, & 2020) and ten times in the last 14 years under head coach Dip Metress. Augusta has hosted five NCAA Regionals from 2007-2011 and last appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2020.
