INDIANAPOLIS, In – After being in the receiving votes category, Augusta University Men's Basketball is ranked No. 23 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll after week one of the regular season.
The Jaguars (1-0) defeated Lander on December 2nd to start the season. AU's next game will be at home on Saturday afternoon against Emmanuel.
Augusta is the only Peach Belt Conference school to be voted in the top 25 NABC Preseason Poll. Several teams in the rankings have not yet made their season debuts.
Five players scored in double-digits in last week's win over Lander, including junior Darren Lucas-White with 22 points. Tyshaun Crawford added 16 points and 9 rebounds. Miguel Arnold added 16 points and 3 assists. Lee Flenor and Tyree Myers also added 12 points.
Augusta has been selected to the NCAA tournament 13 times ('78, '01, '02, '07, '08, '09, '10, '11, '14, '15, '17, '19, & 2020) and ten times in the last 14 years under head coach Dip Metress. Augusta has hosted five NCAA Regionals from 2007-2011 and last appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2020. The 2020 season was cut short prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
