FLORENCE, S.C. – Augusta University men's basketball senior Deane Williams was named to the 2018-19 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Southeast Region Men's Basketball All-Region Team on Friday that was selected by NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors from institutions and conference offices.

Williams, the Peach Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Co-Player of the Year, is joined on the first team by Shaun Willet of Queens, senior forward Brandon Parker from Francis Marion, senior guard Ty'lik Evans of USC Aiken, and junior guard DeQuan Abrom of Belmont Abbey College.

Williams helped lead Augusta to a Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championship and was named first team All-PBC and the tournament MVP. He is averaging 15.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per contest. No. 16 Augusta is riding a 13-game win streak and earned the second seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament. The Jaguars face Francis Marion in the first round quarterfinal game on Saturday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.

The 2018-19 D2CCA men's basketball All-America team will be announced on Tuesday, March 26. The five first-team members from each of the country's eight regions are placed on the national ballot with NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors selecting first, second and third-team All-America honorees. The Ron Lenz Player of the Year will also be chosen from a list comprised of the eight Regional Players of the Year.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
