Ranked No. 3 in the first official NCAA Southeast Region rankings, Augusta celebrated 2019 Homecoming during the game and honored seniors Aaron Byrd, Tyvez Monroe, and Deane Williams with the 2019 Senior Day celebration.

Williams scored a team-high 16 points, with five rebounds, three blocks, and two assists. AU freshman Miguel Arnold hit four three pointers and finished with 14 points, while junior Rafael Monteiro and freshman Tyree Myers each added 13 points. Augusta outrebounded the Canes 34-19 to help the second-half comeback.

GSW scored first, but Monroe drilled a three pointer in AU's first possession to take the lead. The Canes took the lead and kept it until halftime, going into the break on top 40-30. GSW shot 60 percent from field-goal range and the three-point line in the first half to put them up early.

The Jaguars got two free throws from Myers to get within two of the Canes at 57-55 with 8:30 on the clock in the second half. Arnold tied the game at 62-all on a three-pointer from the left side with 6:15 to play and a pair of free throws from Monteiro lifted AU up 64-62 – their first lead of the half. Williams put a GSW defender on a poster with an empathetic dunk to keep AU ahead with 2:42 remaining and the Jaguars held off the visiting team down the stretch to win their eighth straight.

The Jaguars sit second in the PBC standings behind No. 5 nationally-ranked USC Aiken. Augusta plays the Pacers in Aiken, S.C. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 for a 7:30 p.m. contest in the Convocation Center.
