Jaguars Hold Off Flagler In 72-70 Road Win

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Augusta University men's basketball team traveled to Flagler College on Wednesday night for a Peach Belt Conference battle and held off the Saints in the final two minutes to win a 72-70 victory.

Down 34-29 after the first half, Augusta took Flagler to the final seconds and pulled out a 74-72 win. The Jaguars led by four heading into the final minutes of the game until the Saints sunk a three pointer to trail 68-67. The Jags scored four points and held Flagler scoreless in the last two minutes, aside from a three pointer right at the final buzzer to win by two.

 

Augusta is now 6-3 on the road with the victory. AU senior Deane Williams scored a team-best 14 points, while senior Tyvez Monroe and junior Rafael Monteiro each turned in 13 points. Senior guard Aaron Byrd scored 10 off the bench and freshman Miguel Arnold hit a trio of three pointers to score nine.

 

The Jaguars return to Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Ga., to host the Columbus State Cougars for a 3:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference game.
