Augusta Downed 62-55 At Bowie State

BOWIE, Md. – The Augusta University men's basketball team lost a 62-55 non-conference game to the Bowie State Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon in A.C. Jordan Arena.

The Jaguars held a 31-27 lead at halftime, but the Bulldogs brought it back in the second to overtake AU. The Jags didn't score in the final three minutes of the first half to let BSU slide back into a close game. After shooting over 40 percent from field-goal range in the first half, Augusta only shot 26.7 percent from the floor in the second half. BSU outscored Augusta 35-24 in the final half and went on to win on their home floor.

 

The rebound battle went to BSU 40-34, despite Augusta had four less rebounds than the Bulldogs and outscored their bench 55-9.

 

AU freshman Darren Lucas-White had a team-high nine points and picked up five rebounds and pair of steals and assists. Sophomore Troy Cracknell and freshmen Tyree Myers and Miguel Arnold each scored seven points for the Jags.

 

Peach Belt Conference play begins this Saturday, Dec. 1 when Augusta hosts Georgia College for a doubleheader. The women's game begins at 1:30 p.m. and the men follow at 3:30 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
