AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's and women's basketball teams play their first doubleheader of the season on Saturday, Nov. 17 at crosstown rival Paine College in The HEAL Complex. The women's game tips off at 5:30 p.m. and the men follow at 7:30 p.m.

 

Admission to the non-conference doubleheader is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth at the front entrance of the HEAL Complex.

 

MEN'S NOTES (Augusta 1-1, Paine 0-1)

Augusta men's hoops is off to a 1-1 start, after beating Mount Olive and falling to Barton to start the season at the 45 Second Classic in Wilson, N.C. Nov. 9-10. The Jaguars are 18-3 against Paine College since the 1999-00 season and are 15-1 with head coach Dip Metress at the helm. Last time out in 2017, AU led by as much as 29 over the Paine Lions and won 85-56 down the stretch. Augusta shot 53.4 percent (31-of-58) from the field and held Paine to 32.2 shooting (19-of-59).

 

WOMEN'S NOTES (Augusta 0-2, Paine 0-1)

AU is 0-2 on the young season and fell to Barton and Southern Wesleyan as hosts of the Peach Belt / Conference Carolinas Challenge Nov. 9-10. The Jaguar women are 15-3 against Paine College dating back to the 1999-00 season. Second-year head coach Millette Green is 1-0 in the Augusta rivalry, after her squad won 69-66 against Paine in the final seconds last year. Down by one with 20 seconds left, the Jags' Cynara Pitt made a one-handed shot for the go-ahead basket and the win.
