Men’s Hoops Announces Alex Johnson As Latest 2018-19 Signee

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Continuing to build the 2018-19 roster, Augusta University men's basketball head coach Dip Metress signed freshman forward Alex Johnson out of Valdosta, Ga.

Height: 6-8

Weight: 185

Hometown / Previous School: Valdosta, Ga. / Lowndes High School

 

"What stood out most about Alex was the fact that he was the defensive player of the year in his region," Metress said. "He has the ability to make a shot and can run the floor. The next step for him is improving his strength in his career as a Jaguar."

 

Johnson, a 6-8 power forward, joins the Jaguars from his hometown of Valdosta, Ga. He graduated from Lowndes High School in 2018 after lettering in basketball for three years. During his tenure, Johnson was a first team All-State selection while earning All-Region honors as a defensive player. His 2017-18 squad reached the state playoffs while posting a 17-11 overall record.

 

Johnson joins four other new signees who have been announced and will compete in the 2018-19 season that starts in November.
