Fields Tabbed NABC All-Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Augusta University men's basketball senior Tamyrik Fields was named All-Region by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as a second-team selection, the NABC announced on Wednesday afternoon.

 

An All-Peach Belt Conference first-team selection, Fields finished the season ranked second in the league in points (518), points per game (18.5 ppg), and field goals (226-for-420) while leading the Jaguars in scoring. He scored in double figures 25 times this season and he broke 30 points three times – including his career-high 34 on Jan. 20 against Georgia Southwestern.

 

Fields averaged 5.0 rebounds per game and shot 54 percent from field-goal range. The senior from Augusta, Ga., Fields became the 29th player for the Jags to break 1,000 career points and he finished his four-year career with 1,214 points to rank 19th all time for AU in scoring.

 

Located in Kansas City, Mo., the NABC was founded in 1927 by Forrest "Phog" Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches.
