Jamie Quarles Accepts Assistant Coaching Gig At Nicholls State

THIBODAUX, La. – Augusta University men's basketball assistant coach Jamie Quarles has accepted a position at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana as an assistant coach. Quarles spent six seasons as an assistant coach for Augusta and joins Nicholls State, a Division I public university, for the 2017-18 season.

Quarles will assist Nicholls State head coach Richie Riley, who enters his second season with the Colonels after going 14-17 in his first year at the helm in 2016-17. Nicholls State competes in the Southland Conference.

After playing four seasons under Augusta head coach Dip Metress from 2004-08, former Jaguar guard Jamie Quarles picked up the clipboard and joined the coaching staff on August 30, 2011.

"Jaime has been a part of our basketball program, university, and family for 10 of my last 13 years. In his time as a player and coach he has had a great impact on our success at Augusta University," head coach Dip Metress said. This is a great opportunity for him at Nicholls and would not have happened if it was not for his dedication and work ethic."

An Augusta native and 2008 graduate from Augusta, Quarles was a top assistant for the Jags for six seasons from 2011-12 to 2016-17. Augusta went 175-58 (.751) in six seasons with Quarles on the sideline and reached the NCAA tournament three times, while advancing to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament every season. He also achieved his master's degree in kinesiology & health science in May 2013 at AU.
