Men’s Basketball Sets Third Annual Education Day Game For Dec. 8

AUGUSTA, Ga. – For the third-straight year, the Augusta University men's basketball team will host Education Day on Thursday, Dec. 8 with over 2,000 fifth graders from Richmond County for a special 11:00 a.m. tipoff as part of an annual field trip. The Jags meet Voorhees College on Thursday, Dec. 8 for the non-conference game in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

"Education Day is in its third year now. This is the kind of positive collaboration and partnership that we all should be seeking in shaping young minds and attitudes," Director of Athletics Clint Bryant said. "Our first two events had tremendous participation and garnered great success. We are excited about this positive message for our elementary age students. This is truly something special and we are anxious to see its growth and development in future years."

 

Over 2,000 fifth graders from the Richmond County school system be in attendance as part of the annual holiday outing. There will be halftime entertainment from the Jumping Jags – a local youth jump roping group from Grovetown Elementary School. Santa and his elves will also make an appearance!

Admission to the game is free to all. 

The Augusta men's basketball team hosts Voorhees College, a private National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) team from Denmark, S.C. at 11:00 a.m. in a non-conference single game.
