Men’s Basketball Home Opener Nov. 17 Against Claflin

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Starting off the 2016-17 with a 2-0 record on the road in regional action, the Augusta University men's basketball team returns home to Christenberry Fieldhouse for their first competition in Augusta, Ga., this Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. against Claflin University.

 
 

In their last matchup with Claflin, Augusta opened the 2015-16 season at the Panthers and dropped a 66-62 meeting in Orangeburg, S.C. Jaguar senior Keshun Sherrill led all scorers with 18 points in the last meeting. This Thursday night's home opener will only be the second time Augusta head coach Dip Metress has faced Claflin in his 13 years with the Jags.

 

Last time on the floor this season, Augusta took down Mount Olive 82-67 and Barton College 85-76 on the road in Wilson, N.C., Nov. 11-12. Sherrill averaged 23 points per game across the contests and was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week.
