"There have been three constants in my coaching career," Metress said. "Loyal players and coaches, my wife Heather and daughter Elizabeth, and Coach (Clint) Bryant, because I would have never gotten the Belmont Abbey job as well as my current job. Special shout out to them."
Dip Metress took over for the Jaguars in the 2004-05 season and he has posted a winning record in every year since. Now in his 12th, Metress continues to succeed in wins, recruits, and postseason appearances. The team reached its 11th NCAA Tournament all time and it's seventh under Metress last season in 2014-15.
Metress' first win with the Jags came on Nov. 20, 2004 in a 65-58 victory over Carson Newman.
Prior to his 12 seasons at the helm of the Jaguars, Metress was the head coach at Belmont Abbey from 1996-2004 and was an assistant at Hampton (1995-1996), Augusta State (1989-95), and Newberry (1988-89).
Metress was named the fifth head coach in program history on May 10, 2004, and wasted little time in rebuilding the Jaguars. He won 19 games in his first season and led the Jaguars to victories over three nationally-ranked opponents.
