AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Jaguars will wear Children's Hospital of Georgia t-shirts and green shoelaces on Saturday, Jan. 23 for the "Miracle Game" basketball doubleheader in Christenberry Fieldhouse that serves to raise awareness for the Jaguar Miracle – benefitting the local Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
Teaming up with Jaguar Miracle, the Jaguar men's and women's basketball teams will host a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader with the Flagler Saints at 1:30 p.m. (WBB) and 3:30 p.m. (MBB) in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
"Hopefully by wearing neon green shoelaces we will raise awareness to contribute to the student lead organization called Jaguar Miracle that benefits local sick and injured kids being treated at Children's Hospital of Georgia," Men's Basketball Head Coach Dip Metress said. "As a basketball program it is important for us to collaborate with organizations that have such a tremendous impact in our city and university."
Jaguar Miracle is a student organization that raises money and awareness for Children's Hospital of Georgia, our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Jaguar Miracle is composed of and run by students at Augusta University. All of the money raised by Jaguar Miracle directly benefits local sick and injured kids being treated at Children's Hospital of Georgia.
During halftime of the women's and men's game, a "Miracle Family" from Children's Hospital of Georgia will address the crowd and thank them for their support. Augusta University mascot Augustus and Children's Hospital of Georgia mascot Roary will have a special halftime dance off during the men's game!
Jaguar Miracle will have an information table set up in the mezzanine and will be collecting funds.
Jaguar Miracle plans several events across campus to engage students throughout the year and in the fall of 2016 will host a Dance Marathon where students will stand and dance all FTK (for the KIDS).
