Augusta Hosts Paine College Nov. 21 For Basketball Doubleheader

WJBF News Channel 6 televising game across the CSRA

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's and women's basketball teams will host rival Paine College on Saturday, Nov. 21 in Christenberry Fieldhouse for a 5:30 p.m. women's game and a 7:30 p.m. men's tipoff.

The men's game will be televised by WJBF News Channel 6 across the CSRA.

The historic men's basketball rivalry has seen the Jaguars on top. Augusta sports a 27-15 all-time record in the series against Paine and they own a current 11-game winning streak.

Augusta Head Coach Dip Metress is 10-1 against the Lions since his first year in 2004-05. Metress is 18-1 against Paine College all time including his time at Belmont Abbey. The only loss coming in the season-opener of the 2005-06 season when Paine took a 62-58 win at home. The Jags avenged that loss on Dec. 17, 2005 with a 70-57 victory in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jags prevailed in last year's rivalry matchup on Dec. 3, 2014 with an 87-78 victory at Paine.

The Augusta University men's golf team will receive their 2015 MEAC Conference Championship rings and a banner with be hung in the rafters of Christenberry Fieldhouse on Saturday, Nov. 21 during halftime of the men's basketball game against Paine College.

Augusta vs. Paine MBB will be televised on WJBF 6.2 MeTV.

  • $8 per single game
  • $7 for senior citizens, non-Augusta University students, and current and retired military personnel
  • Free for current Augusta University faculty and staff and for retired faculty and staff with a valid ID
  • Six and under are free

***Attending a single game on a scheduled doubleheader is still $10 for admission
