BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Augusta University men's basketball team earned a No. 17 ranking on the Division II Bulletin Preseason Top-25 list that was released on Friday, Oct. 2.
The Jaguars are one of two institutions to represent the Peach Belt Conference, joining UNC Pembroke (10th) on the list of 25 teams. Augustana (S.D.) was picked first overall to win the national championship, while West Liberty (2nd), Tarleton State (3rd), Mount Olive (4th) and Bellarmine (5th) rounded out the top five squads.
The Jaguars host No. 4-ranked team Mount Olive on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 4:00 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse and face UNC Pembroke on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 3:30 p.m., at home and on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at UNCP.
Entering his 12th year as head coach of the Jaguars, Dip Metress returns seven student-athletes and signed seven new players for the upcoming 2015-16 men's basketball season. The Jags went 23-7 overall last year and 15-4 in the PBC while reaching their 11th NCAA Tournament with a trip to the NCAA Southeast Regional.
