Jaguars To Host Whiteout Saturday

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- While the University's 13 intercollegiate athletic teams will continue to compete as Augusta State Jaguars through the end of June, Saturday's men's and women's basketball contests will mark the first official events hosted by the newly-named Georgia Regents University.

Jaguar Basketball returns from a three-game road trip when the men's and women's teams host Armstrong Atlantic State on Saturday afternoon in a pair of Peach Belt Conference matchups. The women's contest tips off at 1:30 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse, with the men's matchup to follow at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The afternoon is being billed as a "Whiteout", and all fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. GRU Athletics, in coordination with the University's Office of Communications and Marketing and with the assistance of Coca-Cola, is providing 2,000 commemorative t-shirts and 10,000 souvenir cups for fans.

The Jumping Jaguars from nearby Grovetown Elementary are scheduled to perform during halftime of the men's game.

A live webcast, as well as live stats, of all Jaguar home games can be found at www.jaguarsroar.com.

All Georgia Regents' students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a valid ID. General admission to all basketball games is $7, while tickets for senior citizens and non-college students are $5. The Christenberry Fieldhouse box office opens one hour prior to game time on game days.
