Jaguars Back In Action This Weekend

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State will return to the hardwood for the first time in 11 days when the Jaguars head to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on the Trojans on Sunday, Dec. 30.

The non-conference matchup -- slated for a 4:00 p.m., tipoff in Kornegay Arena -- will mark the first of three straight road games for ASU. The Jags last played on Wednesday, Dec. 19, falling from the ranks of the undefeated with a 67-53 loss to No. 20 Lincoln Memorial at James Brown Arena in downtown Augusta.

A live webcast of Sunday's game will be available at both www.jaguarsroar.com and www.moctrojans.com.

At 6-1, the Jags are ranked No. 12 in the nation and are 2-0 in road games this season. ASU is 3-0 all-time against Mount Olive, all under head coach Dip Metress. The Jags and Trojans have gone to overtime each of the last two years, including a 73-70 ASU win on New Year's Eve last season in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

Freshman backup point guard Josh Samuels led the Jags with a career-high 11 points in 13 minutes against Lincoln Memorial and junior Harold Doby chipped in 11 points of his own.

Mount Olive (2-7) is coming off an 83-78 win over Wingate on Dec. 19. The victory snapped a six-game losing streak by the Trojans.
