Jaguars Ranked 21st In The Nation

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State returned to the national rankings Tuesday for the first time since the end of the 2010-11 season when the Jaguars landed at the No. 21 spot in the third regular-season poll of the 2012-13 season.

The ASU Men's Basketball program, in its ninth season under head coach Dip Metress, is off to a 4-0 start. After opening with three straight home wins over Bowie State, Coastal Georgia and Benedict, respectively, the Jags picked up their first road win on Sunday, Dec. 2 with a 73-67 non-conference victory at Virginia Union in Richmond, Va.

The appearance in the national rankings marked the 66th time the Jags have been ranked among the country's top 25 teams since the beginning of the 2007-08 season.

From 2007-2011, ASU appeared in every national poll for four straight seasons. The Jags cracked the top 10 43 times and were ranked among the top five on 27 occasions.

The Jags lift the lid on their Peach Belt Conference schedule this weekend when they travel to Greenwood, S.C., to take on Lander on Saturday, Dec. 8. Tip off from Horne Arena is slated for 3:30 p.m.
