Reserved Seat Night Slated For Students

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- For the first time, Augusta State students as well as Georgia Health Sciences University students will have the opportunity to reserve a seat in the student section for the upcoming 2012-13 Jaguar Basketball season. Admission to all ASU Athletics events is free to all ASU and GHSU students with a valid JagCard or GHSU student ID.

The event is planned for Monday, Nov. 5, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse in the Matt Miklas Student Section. The event is for students only and a valid student ID must be presented in order to reserve a seat. Student's names will be recorded and assigned to a seat number for the start of the 2012-13 season.

The reserved seat is good for the entire 2012-13 season and is good for both men's and women's home games. Students who attend the event will also be able to watch the conclusion of the men's basketball practice on Monday night and have a chance to interact with the team and coaches. A pizza dinner will be included in the evening's festivities and men's basketball head coach Dip Metress will address the students as well.

The Jags return four starters -- senior Travis Keels and junior Harold Doby along with sophomores Devonte Thomas and Devon Wright-Nelson -- from last season's 17-11 squad. The ASU men are entering their ninth season under head coach Dip Metress.

Women's basketball head coach Nate Teymer, now in his third year at the helm of the Lady Jags, returns all five starters from a season ago. Junior guard/forward Jemimah Ashby, the team's top scorer in 2011-12, averaged 9.7 ppg., while helping lead ASU to a four-win improvement from the 2010-11 season.

The Lady Jags open the 2012-13 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 10 at North Greenville in Tigerville, S.C. Both squads make their Christenberry Fieldhouse debut on Tuesday, Nov. 20, with the women taking on Claflin at 5:30 p.m., and the men hosting Bowie State at 7:30 p.m.
