ASU To Host Meet ’N Greet

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State Athletics has scheduled its second annual ASU Basketball Meet 'N Greet for Thursday, Nov. 8 at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The event kicks off at 6:00 p.m., and includes dinner with the Jaguar Women's and Men's Basketball teams provided by Wifesaver and the opportunity for Jaguar fans to select reserved seating for the upcoming season. Fans will also have the chance to purchase season tickets as well as sign up to become a Jaguar Club member. A brief 3-point contest featuring both squads will wrap up the evening's events.

Admission is $10 and is payable at the door with cash or check. Tickets may be purchased in advance on ASU's Walton Way campus in Bellevue Hall from Gina Thurman, Acting Assistant Vice President for Student Services. Tickets will also be available from the Athletics' ticket office inside Christenberry Fieldhouse during normal operating hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

The Jags return four starters – senior Travis Keels and junior Harold Doby along with sophomores Devonte Thomas and Devon Wright-Nelson – from last season's 17-11 squad. The ASU men are entering their ninth season under head coach Dip Metress.

Women's basketball head coach Nate Teymer, now in his third year at the helm of the Lady Jags, returns all five starters from a season ago. Junior guard/forward Jemimah Ashby, the team's top scorer in 2011-12, averaged 9.7 ppg., while helping lead ASU to a four-win improvement from the 2010-11 season.

The Lady Jags open the 2012-13 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 10 at North Greenville in Tigerville, S.C. Both squads make their home debut on Tuesday, Nov. 20, with the women taking on Claflin and the men hosting Bowie State at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively, in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
