AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State maintained the
top spot in the fifth Southeast Region poll of the 2008-09 regular
season, released Wednesday, Feb. 25 from the NCAA headquarters in
Indianapolis, Ind.
The Jaguars are one of four Peach Belt Conference schools to appear
in the Southeast Region rankings, joining No. 2 USC Aiken, No. 3
Armstrong Atlantic State and No. 4 Georgia College & State.
The top eight teams in the final Southeast Region poll of the
regular season will earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
ASU, ranked No. 5 nationally, won 85-70 over Columbus State on
Senior Night on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The
Jags close out the regular season Saturday, Feb. 28, traveling to
Americus, Ga., to take on Georgia Southwestern in the Storm Dome at
7:30 p.m.
