AUGUSTA, Ga. – Former Augusta State All-American Garret Siler has been named to the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves Summer League roster.
The 2009 NBA Summer League, presented by EA Sports, runs from July 10-19 at the COX Pavilion and the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The summer league includes entries from 21 NBA teams and features a 55-game schedule over a 10-day span in which the Wolves will play five games.
The Timberwolves' summer league roster features 2009 first round draft picks Jonny Flynn (sixth overall) and Wayne Ellington (28th overall), along with 2007 first round pick Corey Brewer, who will be seeing his first competitive action since suffering a torn ACL last November.
A 7-0 center from Augusta, Ga., Siler was named an All-American by three different organizations following a senior season in which he led ASU to the winningest season in school history at 30-5. He helped guide the Jaguars to their second consecutive Elite Eight appearance and second straight trip to the Final Four.
Siler, who established the NCAA's all-time career field-goal percentage mark (.745) among all divisions, finished his career as the seventh-leading scorer in ASU and Peach Belt history with 1,599 points.
Voted the NCAA Southeast
Regional's Most Outstanding Player after ASU captured
the Southeast Regional title on March 17, Siler led the PBC and the
NCAA among all divisions in field goal percentage (.789) for the
third consecutive season. He was the only player in the PBC to rank
in the top five in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and
blocked shots.
