AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State men's basketball head coach Dip Metress announced Thursday the signing of Virginia high school standout Dominic Morra to a national letter-of-intent.

A 6-0, 175-pound guard from Lake Braddock High School in Burke, Va., Morra was named the Patriot District's Co-Player Of The Year and a two-time, all-region selection.

The leading scorer in the metro-Washington, D.C., area, Morra averaged 30 points per game, seven rounds and four assists for the Bruins as a senior during the 2008-09 season.

"Dom is a true point guard that has shown the ability to score," Metress said. "Dom comes from the Northern Region which is the same region that (ASU players) Steve Smith, Daniel Dixon, and Tye Beal played in. When I watched the 36th Annual Capital Classic Preliminary game on April 9, I thought he was the best point guard on the floor. He is a great fit for our team next year and I look forward to watching his development at the toughest position to play in college basketball, the point guard spot."

The Jags return three starters and nine letterwinners from last season's 30-5 squad that was ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation and advanced to the Final Four for the second consecutive season.
