GREENWOOD---Chris Harriman scored a game-high 27 points, while teammates Jermale Wilkerson and Ben Butler, added 15 each to lead the Augusta State men's basketball team to an 83-65 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander Wednesday night in Horne Arena. Augusta State improves to 10-6 overall and 6-2 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 2-12, 0-7.
Lander's Adrian Penland, the PBC's leading scorer with 22.2 points per game, netted 25 to lead the Senators. Jimbo Tolbert and Ron Hampton added 15 and 12 points respectively. Hampton also had a game-high 12 rebounds. Augusta State's David Siebrands led the Jaguars in rebounds with nine and Wilkerson dished out six assists.
The Jaguars, who led 41-30 at halftime, connected on 32-of-73 field goals for 43.8 percent, while Lander was 23-for-48 for 47.9 percent. Augusta State was also 9-of-23 from the three-point line, while Lander was 4-for-15. Lander made 15-of-19 free throws for 78.9 percent.
ASU travels to Florence, SC on Saturday to face off against Francis Marion in Peach Belt action. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
