Festus Hawkins and Sharon Taylor Ranked Nationally

Augusta, GA --- Augusta State University’s Festus Hawkins and Sharon Taylor are both statistically ranked nationally, as released recently by the NCAA.

Hawkins, a 6-11 senior center from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, is currently ranked 10th nationally in blocks per game. Through the first seven games, Hawkins has tallied 16 blocks and an impressive 2.3 blocks per game average. Hawkins is leading the 5-2 Jaguars with 16.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest.

Taylor, a 6-1 senior center from Augusta, Georgia, is ranked 14th nationally in rebounds per game. Through seven games, Taylor has garnered 76 rebounds and a 10.9 rebounds per game tally. Taylor is averaging a double-double with 14.7 points to go along with her 10.9 boards per game. The Lady Jaguars are off to a 5-2 start to the 2000-01 season.

The men’s team will be in action again Monday, December 18th for a 7:30 p.m. contest at Life University in Atlanta. The Lady Jaguars are also in action Monday as they travel to Georgia Southern for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
