Augusta State Defeats ASU Alumni/CSRA Select Team 91-55

 

Augusta, GA --- Augusta State University’s men’s basketball team defeated the ASU Alumni/CSRA Select team 91-55 Saturday night at the ASU Athletic Complex. The exhibition match was ASU’s last tuneup before next Friday’s season opening game at West Georgia.

Festus Hawkins led all scorers with 26 points on 11 of 13 shooting and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Hawkins also hauled in six rebounds for head coach Gary Tuell’s squad.

Also playing well for ASU was junior guard Gary Boodnikoff. Boodnikoff tallied 20 points on 7 of 11 shooting, including a sterling 6 of 9 from long range.

Other double figure scorers for the Jaguars included Russell Hinder (19 points) and Jayme Johnson (11 points).

The ASU Alumni/CSRA Select team was led by Keenan Mann’s 24 points on 8 of 21 shooting from the floor. Mann also chipped in with a team-high five rebounds.

The Jaguars led 42-28 at halftime. ASU outrebounded the select team 40-26.
