ASU Wraps North Division Top-Seed With 83-65 Win Over Francis Marion

Florence, SC -- Augusta State University’s men’s basketball team wrapped up its third consecutive North Division Championship on Saturday with an 83-65 win over Francis Marion University. ASU and Lander both finished atop the PBC North Division with identical 11-5 league records. The Jaguars win the tiebreaker and thus the division’s top seed with an 8-2 divisional record, while Lander finished with a 7-3 mark.

With the win the Jaguars improve to 17-9 overall and 11-5 in the Peach Belt Conference. Francis Marion falls to 7-19 overall and 4-12 in the PBC.

T.J. Ott led the Jaguars with 24 points on seven of 13 shooting, including four of eight from long range. Ott also tallied seven rebounds on the afternoon. Other top scorers for head coach Gary Tuell’s squad included Gary Boodnikoff (17 points), Festus Hawkins (16 points) and Russell Hinder (15 points).

Francis Marion was led by Will Tucker’s 18 points and LaTarvis Norman’s 16 points.

The Jaguars will find out their first round opponent in next week’s Peach Belt Tournament later tonight. The first round of the PBC men’s tournament will begin on Thursday, March 1 at Lander University
