MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia — Georgia College
& State University swept a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader
with Augusta State Saturday night in the Centennial Center. The
GC&SU Lady Bobcats won their second straight 82-62, while the
Bobcats upset the Jaguars 80-66 for their third straight win.
In the men's game, GC&SU (10-13, 6-8 PBC) shot a blistering 56%
(27-48) from the floor, including a terrific 65% (13-20)
performance in the second half. The Bobcats also helped themselves
at the free throw line by shooting 82% (14-17) from the charity
stripe in the second half. GC&SU also out rebounded the Jaguars
42-24.
Chris Nelson led the Bobcats with 22 points and 9 rebounds, while
Maurice Smith added 16 points. Ivan Bracic came off the bench to
add 14 points. Gary Boodnikoff went 6-13 from three point range and
led Augusta State (16-8, 10-4 PBC) with 22 points. Festus Hawkins
added 20 points for the Jaguars.
