ASU Rolls Over Francis Marion 89-73

Augusta, GA -- Augusta State University’s men’s basketball team defeated Francis Marion University 89-73 Wednesday night at the ASU Athletic Complex. The game marked senior night for two Jaguar players, including Festus Hawkins and Reggie Rosier.

With the victory the Jaguars improve to 16-7 overall and 10-3 in the Peach Belt Conference. Francis Marion falls to 7-17 overall and 4-10 in conference play.

Augusta State used 24 points from Gary Boodnikoff and 22 points from Hawkins to power the Jaguars to the victory. Boodnikoff hit on nine of 14 from the floor, including six of nine from three-point range. Hawkins converted on 10 of 14 from the floor, including pulling down a game-high nine rebounds.

Also scoring in double figures for the Jaguars was Russell Hinder with 12 points and T.J. Ott with 11 points. Hinder also tallied seven rebounds and seven assists in the winning effort.

Francis Marion was led by Latarvis Norman’s 16 points and Bryce Brickhouse’s 13 points. Will Tucker rounded out FMU’s double figure scorers with 10 points.

ASU cruised to a 36-23 halftime lead and never looked back. The Jaguars outrebounded the Patriots 36-30. ASU shot 50 percent from the field, while Francis Marion shot 45 percent.

Augusta State closes out their home schedule with a stellar 11-1 mark, with the only loss coming at the hands of Paine College.

The Jaguars will be on the road this Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Georgia College & State University.
