Gary Boodnikoff Scores 26 in 80-53 Win Over Lander

Augusta, GA --- Augusta State University’s men’s basketball team used a game-high 26 points from Gary Boodnikoff to defeat rival Lander University 80-53 Saturday night at the ASU Athletic Complex. The win marked the sixth consecutive win for the Jaguars over the Senators.

The win lifts the Jaguars to 10-3 overall and 5-0 in the Peach Belt Conference. Lander fall to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the PBC.

ASU went on a 27-1 run in the first half to head into the locker room with a 48-19 halftime lead.

Boodnikoff scored his 26 points on nine of 11 shooting from the floor and six of seven from three-point range. He also added six rebounds.

Other double-figure scorers for the Jaguars included Festus Hawkins with 17 points and T.J. Ott with 12 points. The Jaguars shot 51 percent from the field for the game and 56 percent from three-point range.

Lander was led by Ronald Thompson’s 19 points and Wayne Riley’s 12 points. Lander shot 31 percent from the floor and 28 percent from long range.

ASU will be in action again Monday night as they host Paine College at 7:30 p.m. in the City Classic.
