Augusta State Defeats Columbus State 74-57

Augusta, GA --- Augusta State University’s men’s basketball team defeated Columbus State University 74-57 Saturday afternoon at the ASU Athletic Complex. With the victory ASU improves to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the Peach Belt Conference. Columbus State falls to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the PBC.

Festus Hawkins led the Jaguars with a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Russell Hinder also chipped in with a double-double by scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Columbus State was led by Travis Crutcher’s 20 points. Crutcher was CSU’s only player in double figures.

ASU outrebounded the Cougars 46-39. ASU shot 46 percent for the game, while the Cougars shot 32 percent.

The Jaguars will be in action again Monday night as they travel to USC Spartanburg for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
