AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University baseball senior Patrick Watson has been selected to the 2019 Peach Belt All-Conference team as a second-team honoree. The Peach Belt released the All-Conference team on Thursday night at a banquet in St. Augustine, Fla., on the eve of the PBC Tournament.
UNC Pembroke's Ethan Baucom was named the PBC Player of the Year, while Georgia Southwestern's Tucker Smith was tabbed the Pitcher of the Year. Georgia College's Cam Hill was voted the Freshman of the Year and North Georgia's Tom Cantrell the PBC Coach of the Year.
Watson, a senior from Tifton, Ga., hit the fourth-most home runs in the league with 11 long balls. The starting first baseman and occasional designated hitter led the Jaguars with a .331 batting average in 145 at bats. Watson started 31 games and played in 41, while producing 48 hits, 35 RBIs, 30 runs, and a .621 slugging percentage. He paced the Jaguars in doubles and homers and ranked second in slugging percentage. In the field, he had the most chances and most putouts. Watson enjoyed 12 multi-hit games this season in 2019 and three multi-homer games.
In conference games only, Watson posted a .346 batting average with eight homers, a .731 slugging percentage, and 21 RBIs.
