Augusta Gives Up Two At Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team played a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Young Harris and fell 9-4 and 8-5 at Zell B. Miller Field.

 

Augusta (17-24, 6-21 PBC) competes against Coker College on Tuesday, April 16 at Jaguar Field in Augusta, Ga. The non-conference game begins at 3:00 p.m.

 

GAME 1

The Jaguars scored first in game one, but Young Harris answered and went up 8-2, before AU scored one in the eighth and ninth. Augusta put up seven hits to YHC's 11 in the loss.

 

Senior Harrison Moore hit his sixth home run of the season and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and run. Sophomore Timothy Gray Had a home run in his only at bat for Augusta, while senior Patrick Watson was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

 

After freshman John Micah Law started the game on the mound, senior Chase Slone took over and struck out four in 4.1 innings of work. Freshman Alex Colon tossed the final inning for Augusta.

 

GAME 2

Game two saw the Jags score first again, but the Mountain Lions plated six in the second inning and held off AU to sweep the series. Augusta outhit YHC 9-6 in the game, with Gray hitting another homer.

 

Sophomore Mason Robertson was 3-for-5 with a run and RBI for Augusta and Gray was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs. Watson had two hits for the Jaguars as well.

 

Augusta senior Tony Jones (4-3) gave up the early lead in an inning of action, before senior Christian Griffin took over and struck out nine in 5.2 innings of action. Freshman Tripp Church struck two in 1.1 innings of work to close it out for the Jaguars
