Young Harris Takes Game One Against Jaguars

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team started its Peach Belt Conference series with the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Friday night at Zell B. Miller Field and dropped a 10-5 game.

 

Augusta (17-22, 6-19 PBC) fell behind early against Young Harris (26-13, 12-8 PBC) and couldn't recover in game one of the league series.

 

YHC hit a two-run homer in the first inning and scored another on a wild pitch in the second. Augusta senior Harrison Moore hit a first-pitch home run in the fourth inning to get the Jaguars on the board. The Jags picked up two more in the fifth when senior Devin Bilardello blasted another long ball to left field and scored freshman Garet Suiter. The Jaguars gave up four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and the Mountain Lions went on to win 10-5.

 

Moore went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for AU, Bilardello picked up two RBI in a 2-for-5 performance, and Suiter carded two hits with a run.

 

AU senior Aron Chick (1-2) started his fourth game and made his 15th appearance on the season. The team leader in ERA tossed 4.1 innings and struck out four while allowing seven runs on four hits. Freshmen Chase Horton and Tripp Church took over the mound to close it out for Augusta.

 

Augusta plays the Mountain Lions in a doubleheader to end the series on Saturday, April 13 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Young Harris, Ga.
