AIKEN, S.C. – The Augusta University baseball team dropped an 11-3 Peach Belt Conference game against the USC Aiken Pacers on Saturday afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

Augusta (16-21, 5-18 PBC) met USC Aiken (20-16, 12-8 PBC) in game two of the series and could not slow down the Pacer offense as USCA knocked 10 hits for 11 runs. The Jaguars put up six hits for three runs.

The Pacers plated three in the second inning, but AU scored its first run when sophomore Skylor Murphy drove in senior Devin Bilardello with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. USC Aiken answered in their third inning at bat and drove in six runs and went on to win 11-3.

Augusta freshman Ben Markiewicz went 2-for-3 with a double, sophomore Carrington Evans carded an RBI on one hit, and sophomore Trent Maddox and senior Harrison Moore each had a hit.

In his eighth start of the season, AU senior Christian Griffin (2-6) struggled in two innings of work and walked seven, while allowing five runs on four hits. Griffin struck out two, before seniors Chase Slone and Tony Jones, and freshmen Tripp Church and Clark Adams closed out the game. After brief appearances from Slone, Jones, and Church, Adams held the Pacers scoreless on one hits in 3.2 innings pitched.
