Jags Even The Series With 11-5 Win Over Lander

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team won an 11-5 Peach Belt Conference game over the Lander Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at Jaguar Field.

 

Augusta (16-17, 5-15 PBC) took a first-inning lead against Lander (13-21, 8-9 PBC) and never looked back. The Bearcats used five pitchers to try and slow down the Jaguar offense, but Augusta totaled 13 hits to LU's eight and won to even the series at one game apiece.

 

The Jaguars took a 3-0 advantage in the first inning. On the first pitch he saw in the game, AU senior Harrison Moore hit his fourth home run of the season to score sophomore Skylor Murphy. Senior Devin Bilardello drove in senior Patrick Watson on a right-field single to cap off the big first inning.

 

Senior Zack Goble hit another two-run homer for Augusta in the third inning, before the Jags scored three more in the fourth to lead 8-2. Augusta won 11-5 down the stretch.

 

AU senior Christian Griffin (2-5) started his seventh game of the year and struck out five in seven innings of work. Griffin gave up five runs on six hits, before senior Zack Goble came in to get his first save of the season in two innings of action.

 

The Jaguars game two against Lander on Saturday, March 30 for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch at Jaguar Field in Augusta, Ga.
