Augusta Drops 10-5 Game To Nighthawks

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team lost a 10-5 Peach Belt Conference game to the North Georgia Nighthawks on Saturday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium.

 

Augusta (14-14, 4-13 PBC) put up nine hits, while North Georgia (19-8, 9-5 PBC) carded 10 in game two of the league series.

 

Senior Harrison Moore went 2-for-4 and had two RBI and a run for the Jaguars, while freshman Ben Markiewicz was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Senior Zack Goble hit an RBI-double and freshman Beau Hanna and senior Patrick Watson each had a hit and scored once for Augusta.

 

The Jaguars gave up one in the first inning and UNG tacked on two more in the third and fourth for a 5-0 lead. Markiewicz drove in Watson and Hanna to get AU on the board in the fifth, but North Georgia scored five in the sixth and held on for a 10-5 final.

 

Senior Tony Jones (4-0) started his fourth game of the season for Augusta and struck out four, but allowed five hits for five runs in three innings. Freshman John Micah Law entered the game for the Jags in the fourth and gave up five more runs on four hits, while striking out three. AU freshman Tripp Church tossed also pitched 2.1 innings and held UNG to one hit and no runs.

 

Augusta ends the series with UNG on Sunday, March 24 for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch in Dahlonega, Ga.
