Beau Hanna Named Peach Belt Freshman Of The Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University freshman Beau Hanna was named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week for his play in the first series of the season Feb. 1-2 against Mars Hill. The PBC announced the award on Tuesday morning from its offices in Augusta, Ga.

 

Hanna began his collegiate career by hitting .583 in three games against Mars Hill with three home runs, eight RBI and a 1.333 slugging percentage. The catcher and designated hitter from Winder, Ga., homered and drove in two in his first college game, then hit two more home runs in the second game with five RBI.

 

Hanna had multiple hits in all three games and did not strike out in 12 at-bats with two walks and a .643 on-base percentage. He started at catcher in the first and third games and had no errors in 20 chances with a runner caught stealing. Hanna is tied for the league lead in home runs, leads outright in slugging percentage, and is tied for second in RBI.

 

This is the seventh PBC Freshman of the Week award for Augusta since the PBC started the accolade.
