Jags Blow By Erskine, 10-2, In Non-Conference Meeting

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team beat Erskine College 10-2 on Tuesday in non-conference action at Jaguar Field.  

 

The game moved the Jaguars to 9-10 overall, while Erskine is now 10-9.

 

After a weekend on the road, Augusta returned to Jaguar Field and built a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Augusta sophomore Trent Maddox plated senior Devin Bilardello with a single up the middle and senior Patrick Watson drove in Maddox with a double down the right-field line in the next at bat. Sophomore Mason Robertson scored Watson to left to lift AU up.

 

Senior Harrison Moore had a 3-for-5 day at the plate for Augusta with two RBI and a run. Bilardello, Watson, Robertson, and sophomore Skylor Murphy all recorded two hits for the Jaguars. AU outhit Erskine 15-6 in the victory.

 

Senior Tony Jones (2-1) made his first start of the season for the Jags and struck out five in three innings, while holding the Flying Fleet scoreless on one hit. Head coach Chris Howell went to the bullpen, as four Jags pitched in relief to hold Erskine quiet.

 

AU hosts Saint Rose on Wednesday, March 6 for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game at Jaguar Field.
