Jags Crush Claflin, 14-4, On the Road

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Augusta University baseball team beat the Claflin Panthers 14-4 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Mirmow Field.

 

Augusta (14-31) ended its away schedule with the win over Claflin (15-27) and swept the regular-season meetings, after winning 12-8 at home on Feb. 28.

 

The Jaguars recorded 13 hits to Claflin's seven and had zero errors on the stat sheet. Eight Jags recorded hits and four had multi-hit performances. Senior Ty Hobbs hit his team-best ninth home run of the season and went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Augusta junior Patrick Watson was 3-for-3 with a run and RBI, while senior Jim Wagner and junior Harrison Moore each had two hits and combined for five runs. AU sophomore Timothy Gray picked up two RBI with his third homer of the year.

 

Junior Zack Goble (3-1) got the win for the Jaguars, before four arms saw action out of the bullpen. Freshman Brennen Berger tossed three innings and freshman Charlie Cochran, junior Aron Chick, and senior Jordan Kelly all pitched one inning.

 

Teaming with the Augusta University Medical Center, Augusta hosts the Lab Week game this Friday, April 27 at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Augusta hosts Lynn University for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference game and the AU Medical Center will be in attendance!

 

Augusta will celebrate 2018 Senior Day during their final home games of the season on Saturday, April 28 at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The Jaguars host Lynn for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the senior day ceremony will take place in between the games on Saturday.
