AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team dropped a 9-5 game to No. 8 Georgia College on Sunday afternoon to end the Peach Belt Conference series at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

In a rainy game three, Augusta (13-31, 8-22 PBC) took the first lead against Georgia College (33-9, 24-3 PBC), but couldn't overcome a few big Bobcat innings.

In his 10th start of the season, Augusta freshman Jay Pendley (4-5) pitched five innings and allowed eight hits for four runs with one strikeout. Senior lefty Sam Goberdhan made a brief appearance and surrendered four runs, before senior David Hagelston pitched three innings and held GC scoreless on three hits with three strikeouts. Jags senior Jordan Kelly tossed the ninth.

Augusta struck first with a solo run in the opening inning. AU junior Harrison Moore drove in freshman Mason Robertson with an opposite-field groundball, but GC tied the game at 1-1 with a one-run homer in the fourth. Three Bobcats crossed the plate in the fifth inning to give Georgia College a 4-1 advantage and they went on to win 9-5.

Augusta gave GC a scare in the ninth inning, when they plated three runs – highlighted by senior Jim Wagner's deep home run to right field.

The Jaguars travel to Claflin University on Wednesday, April 25 for a 6:00 p.m. game in Orangeburg, S.C.
