Newberry Notches 8-0 Win Over Jaguars

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Augusta University baseball team met Newberry College for the second time of the 2018 season and fell 8-0 on Tuesday night at Smith Road Complex.

 

Augusta (11-28) allowed Newberry (21-18) to score runs the first four innings and could never recover.

 

Charlie Cochran (1-3) made the start for the Jaguars and pitched three innings. The freshman struck out one and gave up seven hits for five runs (three earned). The Jags went to Brennen Berger, Ben Parr, and Zack Goble in the bullpen.

 

 AU had four hits in the game led by senior Brent Alford's 2-for-3 day. Goble and freshman Trent Maddox also had a hit in the road loss.

 

Augusta's game at Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. scheduled for Wednesday, April 11 has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict on behalf of the Tigers.

 

The Jaguars return to competition on Tuesday, April 17 at North Greenville for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference game in Tigerville, S.C.
