GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Augusta University baseball team opened play in its fifth Peach Belt Conference road series on Friday night at Lander University and won an 11-7 game.

The Jaguars (10-22, 7-15 PBC) compiled 10 hits against Lander (10-20, 4-12 PBC) and carried their early lead to the end.

Jags junior Harrison Moore was 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs, while juniors Patrick Watson, Devin Bilardello, and senior Jim Wagner all had two hits apiece.

Augusta's offense exploded for eight runs in the second inning – sparked by Moore's leadoff home run and a two-RBI single. The Jags batted around in the inning and produced six hits for an 8-0 lead.

Lander added a run in the second and third and made it a two-run game with four in the fifth inning. Jags junior Zack Goble boosted the lead with a single to left field that scored Bilardello and Watson, before Moore drove in Wagner to make it 11-7.

Senior slinger Sam Goberdhan pitched 4.2 innings for AU and struck out four, while allowing six hits for six runs (five earned). Freshman Brennen Berger came out of the bullpen for an inning of work and senior Cody Pugh (1-3) tossed 3.1 innings to get the win with five strikeouts.

Augusta and Lander play a PBC doubleheader on Saturday, March 31 beginning at 2:00 p.m. to wrap the series.
