AU Ties PBC Record With Eight Home Runs To Upset No. 6 Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Augusta University baseball team hit eight home runs in a 17-11 win against No. 6 nationally-ranked Flagler on Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field. Augusta handed Flagler its first conference loss of the year and tied the PBC single-game record. 

 

The Jaguars (8-17, 7-11 PBC) had 21 hits in the slugfest against Flagler (21-4, 13-1 PBC). The Saints produced 14 hits, but couldn't keep up with the Augusta offense. 

 

Augusta junior Zack Goble and senior Ty Hobbs each hit three home runs to tie the PBC single-game record. Goble went 5-for-5 with five RBI and three runs, while Hobbs was 4-for-5 with four RBI and four runs. 

 

McElwaney was 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs and junior Devin Bilardello was 3-for-6 with a run.

Freshman Jay Pendley (4-1) pitched 5.1 innings in the start and struck out four while giving up eight hits for six runs (four earned). Freshman Brennen Berger held the Saints to three hits for a run in his 1.2 innings of work, before Ben Parr and Goble closed it down.

 

Augusta and Flagler wrap the series on Sunday, March 18 with a 1:00 p.m. game at Drysdale Field in St. Augustine, Fla.
