After the Mountain Lions struck first in the opening inning, AU junior Zack Goble hit a go-ahead home run for a 2-1 lead. Goble drove in Bilardello in the third and junior Harrison Moore delivered in the next at bat with an RBI-single to left field.

Leading 4-1 in the fourth, the Jaguars boosted ahead by two more when Bilardello hit a touring two-run homer – his first of the season. Augusta went on to win 12-4 - highlighted by back-to-back triples from Wagner and McElwaney in the eighth.

Freshman Jay Pendley (3-1) struck out his first batter of the game looking and went on to strike out six in his fifth start of the year for the Jaguars. Pendley pitched 5.1 innings, before freshman reliever Brennen Berger, senior Ben Parr, and Goble closed it down.

GAME 2

With the series on the line after each team took a game, the Jaguars scored one in the first and three in the second, but YHC tied the game with four runs in the third. They added one in the top in the sixth on a single up the middle and survived Augusta to split the doubleheader and take the series.

Sam Goberdhan (0-3) gave Augusta six innings of work in his sixth start of the year and gave up six hits for five runs, but only one was earned. Seniors Casey Lenoch and Cody Pugh took over the mound in relief appearances. Pugh left the bases loaded in the seventh with a strikeout to keep the Jags in a one-run game, but the offense couldn't answer in the ninth.

Moore went 4-for-5 and Gayle was 3-for-5 with a run.
