AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference series between the Augusta Jaguars and the Columbus State Cougars concluded on Sunday afternoon and Augusta fell 5-1 at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

Augusta (6-13, 4-8 PBC) compiled five hits in game three, but CSU (14-2, 3-0 PBC) recorded 12 and were perfect in the field to take the game and the series.

The Cougars scored a run in the first inning, but Augusta freshman Trent Maddox drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game in the bottom of the second inning. CSU hit two singles to score two unearned runs in the fourth inning and added one in the eighth and ninth to hold off AU for the 5-1 one.

Junior lefthander Sam Goberdhan (0-2) pitched six innings and struck out six in his fifth start of the season. He allowed eight hits for three runs, but zero were earned. Freshman Brennen Berger made his eighth appearance out of the bullpen, before senior David Hagleston appeared for the fifth time this year and pitched the final two innings to get two strikeouts.

The Jaguars' home stand continues on Wednesday, March 7 with a 6:00 p.m. non-conference game against Newberry College at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
